New year, new season

new year's eve, authentic carbonara

While Christmas was spent in Baguio with hubby's family, the New Year's eve was spent with my folks in the house where I have been spending it ever since I can remember. We prepared a lot of things for media noche but I realized I wasn't able to photograph all. The spotlight though should be given to my first ever Authentic Pasta Carbonara. I should be able to share a recipe here next time. Bummer, I failed to capture my first attempt (which was successful, btw) of making leche flan, too!

Anyway, the early parts of the night were spent mostly in the kitchen. Then we eventually watched the street party outside. Finally I ended the year looking at the sky and watching the fireworks with the 3 most important people in my life. Those moments were one for the books, really. Recalling the night never fails to put a smile on my face even today. Thank you God for giving me a wonderful family and thank you for giving all of us a blessing of good health.

How did you welcome 2014? I hope you had a blast too!

Dear Backblogs,

What?! I didn't have an entry for more than a week?! The last time I did that was during my wedding-honeymoon hiatus. This is unforgivable. Lol

OK to be honest, I've been working on something special. It'll be my very first blog segment and that's the reason the rest of my other updates had to take the backseat.. but! Not anymore. Because today, I'm giving my readers a quick run down of the things that had eaten me while I'm gone.

Well, I was on leave from work for a couple of days last week to visit my lovable Gynecologist and Cardiologist. As shown below, I had to undergo my annual 2D Echo & Doppler and TVS. Results shall be interpreted to me this weekend. Hope everything turns out fine.

Budget Baon: Buttered Suaje

or suahe. Remember the one-day cooking technique that I usually do? Poor Venus lacked the time to take care of it the past weekend so she had to cook them breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily this week.

It was my first to partner with this seafood in the kitchen. I was thrilled because aside from its novelty to our list of monthly rotating viands, this almost-as-good-as-sugpo food is also one of our household's favorites. For those who are not familiar with this particular creature, suaje is another type of shrimp along with alamang (krill) & sugpo (prawns).

I love my new job.

They say waking up in the morning, really early in the morning, is one of the most noble thing a person can do. I agree! It's one of the hardest things to do. Though I already consider myself a morning person, if I hit the sack later than my usual sleeping time (which is at 8:00pm), waking me up before 5:00am the next day will mean war. I'm serious.

But all that changed when this "marriage" thing disturbed my then stable and comfortable life. In fact, this thing might actually have changed a LOOOOT of things about me drastically. Today, I'd like to share a part of this overwhelming transition.

I have a new job. And it's called wifehood. Yes, I call it a job because it's not easy and just like any other, it needs serious work, great effort, passion, motivation, time management, patience, et cetera. It's been barely two months since I landed this position yet I can already and sincerely say how much I'm loving it just because it's rewarding and I feel that it changed me into a better person.

One-day Cooking 101

I'm so excited because this shall be my first-ever housekeeping entry (I think). It's like posting this confirms the fact that I'm a legit wife now and that the wedding which was almost a month ago actually happened for realsss!

OK so without further ado, let me present to you One-day Cooking 101. As a wife, a working one at that, one of the challenges I immediately faced and is still facing is time management. People who know me well would understand that I'm not the type to be busy cleaning the room, organizing closets, fixing the bed, doing the laundry, nor attending to dusty curtains and discolored bed sheets. I'm the type to watch endless DVDs, get lost in a book, play games on the phone, cut my hair, or DIY mani & pedi. You can imagine the kind of adjustment I had to go through to shift from that little girl who grew up couch potato-ing to a wife who's very busy and always mobile in the kitchen, the bathroom, and everywhere in the house (naks, as if ang laki ng bahay!) By the grace of God, it's been more than three weeks now since I changed from the lazy boarder at my parents' house to the responsible domestic goddess of our little nest. 3 weeks! And to think I wasn't able to do it a single day before! (Sorry Maaa!)

Anyway, going back to Time Management, it's been really hard you know. The rants on how my sleeping hours had to give way to my wife duties will be saved for another entry but today, I'll be sharing a brilliant technique I learned from an office boss.
