Wildflour Cafe and Bakery Cronuts

If you haven't heard yet, Wildflour Cafe and Bakery will stop producing the famous croissant-donut hybrid effective end of this month. Needless to say, when this news reached my workplace, the girls and I had a mini heart-attack and some sort of panic. We came to an agreement to sample the intriguing pastry before it gets lost to oblivion. We did so last Monday at Podium.

So they have a relatively wider choices of flavors, not all of which were available during our visit. We were able to sample Strawberry, Mixed Berries, Vanilla and the bestseller Dulce de Leche as shown respectively below.

You ready for the verdict? At 120php each, except for Dulce de Leche which costs 150php, I can say that these are quite overrated. I don't have a lot to compare it with but it's a fact that I'm not a fan of too sweet sweets and the kind of sweet they offer was a little over the top for my liking, at least for the Vanilla one because that's what I ordered. I got a taste of the other flavors and still found the sweetness a little distracting for me to appreciate the entirety of the pastry. I like Highlands' Coffee's version better. But don't get me wrong, aside from the excessive sweetness and that I don't think we were served freshly-made cronuts, (we were there dinner time and there was only a tray left of all the flavors combined) I think Wildflour cronut is still a must-try. Unlike with Highlands', and if you notice in the photos, these are not simple donuts born with croissant texture. Each of them are layer upon layer of dough and sweet-creamy-tasty goodness.

From left to right, that's Kim, Grace, your Venus, Joy, and Marj. For the record, I was the only one dissatisfied with their flavor palate. The rest of the girls were pretty much happy with their orders. In fact, they finished their cronuts quick as a flash. We have always wanted to try the first version of cronut to ever be made in the Philippines and we're glad we made it on time. If you haven't yet, Wildflour has another branch in Bonifacio Global City.

Have you tried this one yet? Or other cronuts maybe that you want me to sample? I'd love to hear from you!

  1. Gosh, I haven't even tried cronuts! I knew about the news, but I didn't know they'd stop making these at the end of THIS month. :(

  2. I've only recently tried Wildflour cronuts, just when they announced they were going to stop making them. As a lover of anything sweet, they were okay for me. Definitely much better than the SM cronuts I told you I tried before. Will I buy them again? Absolutely. But since they're not gonna make this again, I might not have the chance anymore so I'll just scoot over to the competition. Haha. :)

    1. To their defense, I know of a lot of people who really like Wildflour's cronuts. I just have a different taste is all. But yeah, I guess we'll have to discover and start appreciating the other cronuts in the market. :)
